Show On The Road Productions is one of Chicagoland's largest Premiere Entertainment outfits. We are a high-end Entertainment / DJ company that specializes in both audience participation events & low-key events. We have consistently won numerous awards at many of the DJ Industry's DJ Expos across the country since 1996. We have also been named as one of the Top 10 DJ Companies in the country since 1996 by competing in these DJ competitions.
We are full time and fully insured. There are around 45 people on staff and our employees only work for Show On The Road (& not for any other DJ companies). We handle 750-850 jobs a year with 14 systems and all events are kept in house, meaning that we don't subcontract any other DJ companies to do our jobs like some DJ companies do. Each client gets to determine what kind or how much interactiveness is wanted. Our music library has over 16,000 song titles, and all 14 systems have the same exact library. We always have back up equipment & have access to an emergency service for anything needed beyond the backups.
Most of the Show On the Road DJ's are in their mid to late 20's with a few guys in their 30's or 40's. We can also be multi-cultural by request, with a Spanish speaking DJ, and Filipino DJ's. We are often imitated but never duplicated because we always have new twists on old traditions up our sleeves.
History
Show On The Road was officially started on January 1, 1995. It was the result of the merging of two companies, a year's worth of preparation, and a lot of new ideas. Russ Harris & Joe Medrano merged their two single DJ companies after a year & a half of referring business to each other. They had two DJ systems that could go out and a third system that started going out that summer. Eventually, Joe bowed out in 1998 & Russ took over the reins & has been running it ever since.
In 1996, Russ & Joe took their company to Atlantic City, NJ to attend the International DJ Expo where they competed in the DJ Of The Year Competition by teaching Ricky Martin's "Maria" dance. In 1997, they taught a Glow Necklace dance to "CoCo Jamboo" by Mr. President and they won 1st Place in the Showcase Entertainment category. In 1998, they taught the "Feel It" line dance by The Tamperer & Maya. In 1999, Show On The Road taught the DJ's "Kung Fu Fighting" by London Bustop and took home 1st Place in the Propmaster Of The Year category in Las Vegas and the 3rd Place trophy for the DJ Of The Year Competition in Atlantic City. Show On The Road was also the Mobile Of The Month in the October 1999 issue of DJ Times Magazine.
Since 2000, Show On The Road has debuted more games and dances such as the new Millennium Chicken Dance that Russ created, the Mashup Game, Ping Pong Blow, Move It Like This Dance, Ships & Sailors Game, & the Iko Iko Line Dance. In November of 2005, Show On The Road moved into their newly constructed & bought building in Warrenville near I-88 & Winfield Rd. In 2006, Show On the Road converted 11 of their DJ systems over to computer based mp3 music systems, thus eliminating the need for cd’s. The transition was extremely smooth & now we are more flexible than ever with our music collection. Show On The Road also opened a 2nd office in Schaumburg on Woodfield Drive (just west of the mall). By joining forces with Essence Photography & Videography, Show On The Road & Essence have become an unstoppable force in the Chicagoland wedding industry. Three more offices in Chicago, Orland Park & Vernon Hills are being planned to open in the near future…stay tuned!
