About The Owner

Russ Harris

Russ Harris has been a disc jockey since 1987, starting at the age of 14. He was always the kid that brought the music to the party. T.C.R. Productions was the name of his single system operation from 1987 until 1994. Throughout high school, he gained experience and exposure to what was needed to run a business. After he got his driver’s license at 16, his dad was grateful that he didn't have to drop off & pick up Russ at every gig. After graduating from Benet Academy in Lisle, IL, Russ went to DePaul University (where he graduated from) to pursue a degree in Communications and Business. During this time he also had a part time job at Toto's Nightclub in Schaumburg with Bobby D & Mixin' Marc of B96 (WBBM FM). In 1991, he landed a job at Walter Payton's Pacific Club (also known as Boogie Nights & Bamboo Room) in Lombard, IL.

Being 18 at a "23 & over" club was one obstacle he overcame. During his employment at Pacific Club, Russ' 2nd obstacle was learning the fine art of being an interactive DJ as opposed to just playing music. Russ started to integrate those techniques with his mobile business & the response was overwhelming. Interactive mobile dj-ing was new in the early 1990's and Russ saw a huge opportunity in the wedding & school market for introducing the "new style". In 1993, Russ won 4th place in the B96 Mixer Search Contest (Bobby D placed 3rd) where he was up against 250 other Chicagoland DJ's. Russ also won a lip-synching contest sponsored by MTV in which he performed Y.M.C.A with Mixin' Marc & Joe "Nawty Boy" Nardi. That was the same year Russ & Joe Medrano started trading jobs with each other, which evolved into the creation of Show On The Road Productions.

Russ HarrisRuss was on the panel for "Wedding Finishing Touches" in 1998 at the Mobile Beat DJ Expo held in Las Vegas with Keith Allen (CT) & Jodi Harris (NV). There, he discussed new wedding traditions and techniques that can enhance the day even more for brides & grooms. In 1999, at the DJ Times International DJ Expo in Atlantic City, Russ was on the "Schoolhouse Rock: Pumpin' Party Jams" seminar panel with JD Fields (WA) where he shared marketing ideas & performance techniques for the school market. More recently, Russ teaches a Remixing 101 Seminar & a Video Montage seminar at the AC DJ Expo & Mobile Beat Show (Las Vegas) every year in front of hundreds of other DJ’s. In 2008, the organizers of Mobile Beat asked Russ to open for Tone Loc & C&C Music Factory for the welcoming party.

In 2000, Russ was flown out to Philadelphia, PA to shoot the next Bobby Morganstein Productions Video called Party Dances Vol.3, where he teaches 9 dances & a game. Also in 2001, Russ developed the Millennium Chicken Dance and it became a huge hit in the DJ industry. Russ has also appeared in every Mobile Beat DJ Magazine "DJ All Stars" Show since 2000 and has done numerous dances and games. In 2003, he released his first record under his newly developed Crescendo Muzik record label and finds success with his first release of a remix to Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall" where it climbed to #9 on the August edition of DJ TIMES "Top 50 Crossover Chart." In 2005, Russ was signed by Esntion Records to produce his first debut Dance Music album. “Drums In The Club” & “Unsealed” were the first 2 singles; both released with music videos & full distribution & are now currently staples in the dance clubs & radio stations across the world. “Drums In The Club” even climbed to #5 on the Billboard Club Dance Charts in March of 2007. Russ’ new single “Standing In The Rain” will hopefully add to the string of hits he’s been building in clubland. In the September 2007 issue of Mobile Beat, Russ had a 2 page interview spread on his success with being on both sides of the fence with being a Mobile & Club Music producer, and got to plug his debut album “Ear Therapy” which was coming out in October of 2007. In 2008, DJ Times Magazine celebrated their 20th anniversary by profiling 20 DJ’s across the country to help celebrate it all year long. Russ was picked as one of the 20, and is also only one of the 3 DJ’s that is in the Mobile DJ business. You can find it in the May 2008 Issue. You can also view Russ’ artist website at www.djrussharris.com or his myspace account at www.myspace.com/djrussharris.

Russ continues to look for new ways to have fun at parties & receptions, and at the same time finds family time with his wife Kim & children Kaylee, Kathryn & Gabe.
